![]() ![]() She didn't want to hurt Denny, I got that. She was in love with Denny but Kellan was like her soul mate or whatever. !!! Now, Kiera, even though I totally agreed with Kellan throughtout the book, I felt Kiera was seriously misunderstood. I really liked it when Kellan actually called Kiera a whore. I found myself taking Kellan side on most everything that happen throughout the book. Kellan actually falls in love with Kiera and throughout the whole book Kellan is trying to get Kiera to basically choose him. Kellan is what you would call a "beautiful disaster" and Kiera is like his poison. Each one is so unique, even down to the members of Kellan's band. now what make this book really shine are the characters. ![]() Denny comes back and Kiera goes back to Denny, but wants to maintain the relationship with Kellan as well. Kiera and Denny break up and then Kiera sleeps with Kellan. ![]() Denny goes away on a work trip and Kiera starts an emotional affair with Kellan. Quick summary: Kiera is originally with Denny and they move into Kellan's, Denny's friend, house. just Kiera (the main female character) is misunderstood. Let me say this first, I totally understand why there are so many bad reviews however, actually the book is not bad. I was really shocked at how good this book really is. ![]() ![]() In the spirit of Cold Sassy Tree and The Secret Life of Bees, Clover is a witty, insightful classic for readers of all ages. ![]() ![]() She is positioned as a counterpoint to Marian, whose pure and single-minded determination to fly contrasts sharply with Hadley’s tendency to drift through life with occasional bouts of self-sabotage. ![]() Hadley’s drily cynical voice has more than a touch of Fleabag about it, offering a knowing and prematurely jaded insider’s view of the movie industry (“my career is no longer a blow job-based barter economy,” she remarks). ![]() Threaded through it is a parallel contemporary narrative, recounted by disgraced Hollywood starlet Hadley Baxter, who is trying to revive her career by playing Marian in a biopic. Great Circle is a daringly ambitious novel, traversing in Marian’s story the history of early-20th-century aviation, Prohibition, the Great Depression and the second world war. “What I have done is foolish I had no choice but to do it,” she has written. Decades later, her enigmatic, fragmentary journal is discovered, wrapped in a life-preserver. The novel’s heroine, pioneering aviator Marian Graves, was attempting to become the first person to fly a great circle intersecting both poles in 1950 when her plane disappeared somewhere in the Antarctic. The equator is one so is every line of longitude. A great circle, Maggie Shipstead’s third novel explains on the opening page, is “the largest circle that can be drawn on a sphere”. ![]() ![]() ![]() Come get me.’ I got to go out and find it to clean it out. – from Deacon King Kong book by James McBride A man who cannot keep his word is worthless. ![]() – from Deacon King Kong book by James McBrideĮverything you are, everything you will be in this cruel world, depends on your word.
